Tunisia is extremely safe and tolerant with a strong political stability.
To avoid shocking or offending Tunisians, we advise you to follow these rules: keep contact between men and women formal. For women in particular: avoid wearing clothing with uncovered shoulders, exposed chest or cleavage, and skirts that are too short, especially around the local population who is often very traditionally dressed.
If your trip takes place during the month of Ramadan, avoid drinking, eating, or smoking in public around Tunisians because a large majority of them practices fasting from sunrise to sundown.
Finally, if a Tunisian invites you to drink mint tea or eat couscous, do not refuse! It is an honor for them to invite you, and it is their way of expressing their pleasure to meet you.
